Preparing For Your Upcoming Move

At Delta we try to make your move as seamless as possible.

PACKING TIPS:

  1. Start by packing out of season items and things you use infrequently.

  2. Empty dresser drawers of breakables, perishables and prohibited items.

  3. Isolate and protect dangerous items like knives or skewers that might puncture or damage other items.

  4. Wrap fine China, Crystal and delicate items individually in clean, unprinted paper or bubble wrap. (Disregard with White Glove Packing Service)

  5. Place a two or three-inch layer of crushed paper in the bottom of every box or bin or use small layer of bubble wrap to fill air spaces and gaps.

  6. Avoid overloading the boxes and bins but try to pack firmly to ensure no shifting within the boxes.

  7. Try to consolidate smaller boxes into a Lg box.

  8. List the contents on the side of each box or bin or label the room along with “Fragile”.

  9. Kick your feet up and get ready for the movers to arrive.

Preparing For Your Upcoming Move

1. Planning and Preparation:

  • Start Early: Begin planning at least 8-12 weeks before your move to avoid last-minute rushes.

Pack Strategically:

  • Pack essentials separately: Create a box or bag with essentials for your first few days in the new home (toiletries, medications, important documents).

  • Label boxes clearly: Indicate contents and the room they belong to for easy unpacking.

  • Pack heavy items on the bottom of boxes: Distribute weight evenly and reinforce box bottoms with tape.

  • Consider Professional Packing Services: If you're short on time or concerned about packing, explore options for professional packing.

Utility Transfers: Arrange for the transfer or disconnection of utilities at your old address and setup at your new one.

Don't forget the details: Remember to pack a first night bag with essentials for when you arrive at your new home.

How Much Does Full Service Moving Cost?

The cost of moving depends on a few factors:

  • Timing - Summer is Peak Moving Season which may increase rates

  • Volume - Your move is based on the amount of space taken up (Inventory List)

  • Booking - The closer the date the higher the rate

When searching for a mover we recommend reserving a company ASAP. Due to changing availability and housing markets, the best time to get a great rate and save money is as early as possible. Prior to speaking to Long Distance Movers, it's important to note that most Long-Distance moves start at $1,499 up to $15,000+ depending on size, timing, availability, and exact service needs (packing, unpacking, crating etc.).
